Monologue of Dots and Lines

Project 1. [ Appletwig ]
This work depicts the texture, volume, and lighting of an apple using a dense arrangement of cross-hatching lines. Through structured strokes, the drawing explores the rhythm and energy of lines, revealing vitality within stillness. In silence, the fruit quietly speaks of the weight of time and the warmth of light.

Project 2. [ Penguin in iceberg ]
This work combines the soft texture of a penguin’s feathers with the geometric structure of an ice crystal. The use of stippling and linear hatching creates a striking contrast, symbolizing a penguin trapped in an iceberg, its expression rendered in tiny dots, its body built from geometric planes of ice. The contrast between softness and structure tells a quiet fairytale of solitude and resilience.

Project 3. [ Marionette-Giselle ]
Inspired by a ballet performance, using line drawing technique depicts a beautiful and pure young girl who loves ballet. The chaotic and repeated lines attempt to capture her painful emotional state—one of deception and destruction caused by betrayal, echoing the tragic arc of the ballet's narrative. The contrast of black and white conveys a sense of tragedy and poetic atmosphere, while the vibrant butterflies fluttering beside her represent the once joyful and fluttering secrets of a young girl's heart.

Project 4. [ Budgerigar ]
I drew a self-portrait for my lovely little parrot. Whenever I take pictures of it with my phone, it always turns its head to look back at me—just like in the drawing. I believe it must also want a picture frame, with its own self-portrait inside! I enjoyed using a ballpoint pen to carefully capture every detail—its soft feathers, bright eyes, and adorable beak. In that moment, I found the true meaning of drawing. With each stroke, I felt the presence of my parrot.
