1. yiheyuan 【颐和园】, beijing. winter 2025.
in winter, the trees at the summer palace stand stark and exposed - their sharp and tangled lines reflect more than just the season. there's a quiet loneliness in their bare silhouettes, a sense of melancholy in the way they reach out to the pale blue sky. yet they show resilience, standing firm through the cold as they've done over the centuries.
in the gardens of the summer palace, where emperors once walked during moments of rest, the trees have become quiet witnesses to history. their twisted forms suggest wisdom shaped by time, and their shadows seem to hold memories.
stillness can speak volumes.

2. trees of china
more trees I photographed during my trip to Beijing. there’s something unmistakable about their shapes, elegant and expressive. just one look and you can tell they belong to east asia. the trees seem to carry the essence of the landscape itself; their forms echo the curves of traditional brush paintings and the balance found in oriental aesthetics.

3. moment of trust
this sketch was drawn as a part of hand study. it shows a couple holding hands - nothing elaborate, just a simple, quiet moment. but in that small gesture, i see so much: a sense of longing, a touch of sadness, and a quiet strength that comes from love and trust built over time.

4. just another doodle
a doodle done for the first exercise. it’s a mix of everything that came to mind: flora and fauna, swirling oriental clouds, and spontaneous patterns. there was no plan, just the freedom to let the pen wander. just like how a doodle should be.
